Neil Thompson of Teach the Geek to Speak joins me to talk about public speaking. Why is it important to talk about your research? You may be communicating with more people than you think.

Neil Thompson (@TeachTheGeek) is an engineer who, after one too many failed presentations in front of senior management, knew that he had to get better at public speaking. After many reps and tons of feedback, he has improved tremendously. He took everything he learned and created Teach the Geek to Speak, an online speaking course. Building upon the course, he wanted to create something that provided ongoing support, so he created the Teach the Geek to Speak Society, a monthly membership. Ultimately, his goal is to work with people like himself, STEM professionals who see the benefit of improving their presentations skills, especially in front of non-technical audiences. Neil is also host of the Teach the Geek podcast, speaking with those with STEM backgrounds about their public speaking and, ultimately, their career journeys.
